On a very hot and humid summer day I met Phoebe and Ben at the lovely Sumner Mansion Inn for their wedding day. The sun was shining brightly, the temps were warm and with the help of family, friends and the dear Caitlin of DIY Wedding Mentor all the pieces were coming together. Flowers that had been picked from the roadside were finding their place in vases as centerpieces, old photos of the couple and loved ones were hung with care, all the little touches Phoebe and Ben had thought of that were making this day DIY and special were actually happening. Phoebe and Ben had already planned with me to take off before things got under way and brave a trek through the woods to the Quechee Gorge for some couple photos. Thru the heat and humidity we followed the trails and took some stunning photos. I loved this unqiue setting and the willingness of Phoebe and Ben to trust me and do something different. Once back at the Inn, things started to feel ominous; the clouds were getting thick, thunder was looming in the distance and descisions had to be made. Finally, the ceremony was moved inside and good thing because those clouds and that thunder along with lightning moved right in and it was quite a storm! For the remainder of the evening the summer thunderstorm raged on, but none of the guests nor Phoebe or Ben let it stop them from enjoying the company of all their friends and family and sharing in the love that this day was all about. I loved how personal and laid back Phoebe and Ben's DIY wedding was; they embraced their day and made it truly their own.
